A total of 24.4 mln tonnes of cargo was transported on Eesti Raudtee (Estonian Railways) infrastructure in 2013.
In 2013, the oil and oil products’ transport fell by 1.4% in a year to 15.2 million tonnes.
The volume of oil shale fell by 14% to 3.03 million tonnes, that of fertilisers fell by 4.3% to 3 mln tonnes and that of chemical goods by 43% to 1.11 mln tonnes.
Transit transport fell by 5.9% to 18.71 mln tonnes in 2013, local freight transport by 11.6% to 3.6 mln tonnes. Rail imports fell by 6.3% to 1.34 mln tonnes and rail exports fell by 6.7% to 0.72 mln tonnes.
Container transport by rail increased by nearly 27 %, to a total of 62,012 TEU. More than 80% was transported on Moscow and Kaluga routes.
