Speaking at the 3rd Russian Investment and Construction Forum, Marat Khusnullin, Deputy Mayor for Urban Development and Construction declared that 60 km of new subway lines and 46 transport structures are planned to be build during 2014 – 2016. The development projects are stipulated in the Moscow Targeted Investment Programme for 2014-2016, dated 10 September 2013.
According to the Programme the transport system will receive the bulk of funding over the next three years, with the amount of investments increasing by 21% to a total of 765.5 billion roubles. Metro construction projects will receive 446 billion roubles as compared with 253 billion roubles in 2011-2013. New lines, stations and depots will open during this period. Rolling stock will be purchased under lifecycle contracts.
