Over 800km of Ukraine’s railway network to be electrified until 2020

Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia, UZ) will carry out projects to electrify a number of 838 track km across the country, towards the Black Sea and the borders with Poland and Belarus. The deputy minister of infrastructure Alexander Kava insisted that priority should be given to the most cost- effective railway segments.

During 2015-2017, UZ will continue the electrification works on Dolynska-Mykolaiv-Kolosivka railway section (240 km). This electrification project, soon to be submitted for approval to the Government,  will contribute to increasing traffic to the ports of Odessa and Mykolaiv. The funding is expected to be provided by the European Investment Bank.

In the same time, the infrastructure manager will intensify work on the preparation and implementation of electrification of railway lines towards the borders with Poland and Belarus.
