Arriva Vlaky could start operating on long distance line Plzeň-Most

DB subsidiary Arriva vlaky s.r.o and České dráhy (CZ) are the two companies that submitted proposals to the Czech Ministry of Transport for operating on the long distance line R16 Plzeň – Chomutov – Most.

During negotiations, Arriva required an annual operating subsidy of CZK 37.3 million (EUR 1.34 million)/year, CZK 3.4 million less than the subsidy required by CZ. The price is considered the main selection criteria.

Arriva will use DB’s Class 628 DMUs, previously operated on the pilot unsubsidised passenger service on  Praha – Kralupy nad Vltavou route.
