BDZ’s freight unit 9-mo net loss widens

The net loss of BDZ-Tovarni Prevozi, the freight unit of Bulgarian state railway operator BDZ, widened 3.6% on the year to 9.9 million levs (5.1 million euro) in the nine months through September, the company’s nine-month financial report indicated.

BDZ-Tovarni Prevozi’s revenues rose to 96.69 million levs in January-September from 96.64 million levs a year earlier.  The company’s January-September operating costs rose to 91.5 million levs from 89.7 million levs a year earlier.

The company handled 6.6 million tonnes of cargo in the nine-month period, up by 5.3% on the year.
