Budapest air-rail link feasibility study completed

budapest-air-rail-linkThe feasibility study for the railway line connecting Budapest Ferenc Liszt international airport to the city has been completed, stated the Hungarian Minister of National Development (Világgazdaság).

A 22 km electrified double line will link Kőbánya-Kispest, the southern terminus of the Metro Line 3 (North-South line) to the town of Monor, circling the airport. The new direct connection will also allow passengers from Hungary’s southern and eastern cities a faster access to the airport area.

The line should be operational for for the 2024 Olympic Games, should Hungary win their hosting. 

The total value of the project and financing sources are not yet know, since the project is still in preparation phase.
