Bulgaria’s NRIC launches EUR 64 mln railway modernisation tender

Bulgaria’s National Railway Infrastructure Company (NRIC) is seeking a contractor for modernisation works worth BGN 125.2 million (EUR 64 million) on the Sofia – Elin Pelin railway section.

After the planned upgrades,  the 23 km long electrified double railway line should support speeds of 160 km per hour for passenger trains and 120 km per hour for freight trains, NRIC said in a notice published on the website of the Public Procurement Agency.

The works, which should be completed in 48 months, also include the reconstruction of three railway stations.
