CFR Marfa turnover up by 8.4% in H1, to EUR 99 million

CFR Marfa, the Romanian state-owned  railway freight operator,  has increased its turnover by 8.4% in the first half of the year, to RON437.2 million (EUR 99 million) and the volume of freight carried rose 13%, to 13.6 million tons compared to the same period.The company reported cutting down financial loss by 79% compared to 2013  H1.

According to the company press release, the positive results registered by CFR Marfa in January-June 2014 are also consolidated by the implementation of the restructure and reorganization process. Now in a final phase, the process targeted both the reorganization of the company according to the new market requirements and the adjustment of the employees number to the level of current work.

In July, CFR Marfa announced laying off 2500 of its 8577 employees, as part of the company’s restructuring and reorganisation process.
