CFR SA, the Romanian state-owned infrastructure manager, commissioned this year six modernised railway stations, projects estimated at RON 119 million (EUR 27 million). The modernised stations are Slatina, Resita Sud, Zalau, Bistrita Nord, Giurgiu City and Botosani.
CFR’s project to modernize railway stations, developed under the Operational Programme Transport 2007-2013, includes the rehabilitation and modernization of railway stations during two stages, 16 stations in the first stage. The second stage includes the modernisation of five stations, financed under the Operational Programme Transport 2014-2020. The value of the projects is estimated at EUR 43.1 million.
Works include: modernization of platforms, canopies, commercial spaces, pedestrian tunnels, internal sanitary installations, sewage and electrical systems, as well as rehabilitation of the buildings.
Starting with last year, CFR SA commissioned 11 of the 14 railway stations under rehabilitation works started since 2011 and 2012, the total value of contracts being RON 239 million (EUR 54 million).
