CFR SA, the Romanian state owned infrastructure manager, and Alstom Transport – Alcatel Lucent România – PAS 97 consortium signed RON498 million (EUR 113 million) contract for construction works and installation of ERTMS, GSM-R, interlocking and Simeria Operational Control Centre on Sighişoara – Coşlariu – Simeria railway sections (167 km).
The consortium won the tender in January 2013, against two other competitors Thales Systems România SA and Bombardier Germania-Huawei Technologies-Remarul 16 Februarie-Spiact Craiova consortium. Thales Systems România SA contested the tender result, both at the Bucharest Court of Appeal and the National Council for Solving Complaints. In July this year, the Bucharest Court of Appeal rejected the complaint.
The project “Rehabilitation of railway line Braşov-Simeria, component of the pan-European Corridor IV for the traffic of trains at a maximum speed of 160 km/h, Section Coşlariu-Sighişoara” is 85%-financed by the European Commission and 15% the state budget.
