Croatia: Upgrading and electrification works for Vinkovci – Vukovar railway line to start in H2 2016

HŽ Infrastruktura announced that upgrading and electrification works for Vinkovci – Vukovar railway line (18.7 km) are programmed to start in the H2 2016. The contract on the preparation of the design and other project documentation was signed on 22 August 2013 by the contracting authority HŽ Infrastruktura d.o.o. and ACCIONA Ingeniería S.A. in a consortium of tenderers with IDOM Ingeniería y Consultoría S.A., ARDANUY Ingeniería S.A. of Spain and Željezničko projektno društvo d.d.

The value of the contract is EUR 2.5 million, of which 85% is financed by the European Union and 15% by the Croatian government. The design should be completed within 24 months after the signing of the contract.

The project includes the  construction of new buildings, platforms, two bridges and overpasses, the upgrading of Vukovar railway station as well as the rehabilitation of Bršadin, Bršadin – Lipovaca and Nuštru railway stops.
