Dialogue with the Romanian company GRAMPET on the privatization of the HŽ Cargo have not been finished yet

The Croatian Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure stated for Think Railways that the dialogues with the Romanian company GRAMPET on the privatization of the HŽ Cargo have not been finished yet. As agreed during the last round of dialogues in December last year, their continuation is expected this or next week.

In the next round of negotiations, two sides expect to reach the agreement on specific details of the Contract and the fulfillment of the conditions required by both Romanian and Croatian partners in order to finalize the acquisition of the company, according to the given bid. The final answer regarding the privatization of the HŽ Cargo is expected at the end of this month.

Due to the difficult conditions in the company and the importance of resolving the situation in the entire railway sector, we logically consider also alternative solutions in case of failed privatization. Naturally, the Croatian government, as a responsible owner, is considering different models to solve the situation in the company and will start preparing detailed new solutions if necessary.
