EIB evaluates GBP 500 m loan for ATC signalling upgrade of the London Underground

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is evaluating a GBP 500 million loan to Transport for London for the upgrade of the signalling system on four lines of the London Underground network. 

The project primarily involves renewal of the communication and control system on parts of the London Underground, aiming to improve the quality of public transport in terms of speed, journey time reliability, service frequency and comfort.

The total cost of the projects is GBP 2200 million (EUR 2558 million.) The wider investment programme also includes also expansion of rolling stock.
