EUR 156 million EBRD loan for Izmir Metro LRT carriages project

The Izmir Metropolitan Municipality has requested a loan from EBRD and intends using its proceeds for a project to procure Light Rail Transit carriages to be operated by the municipal public transport company, Izmir Metro, on the existing LRT network.

The proposed project, which has a total estimated cost of TRY 447.12 million (equivalent of EUR 156 million using Central Bank of Turkey exchange rate EUR/TRY 2.8853; the amount is subject to exchange rate fluctuation), will require the procurement of the following contracts to be implemented by Izmir Metro:

– Contract for the supply of 85 Light Rail vehicles;
– Technical Assistance for development of KPIs and out-sourcing and non-fare revenues;
– Technical Assistance for Policy Dialogue; and
– Technical Assistance for Project Procurement and Implementation.

Tendering for the above contracts is expected to begin in Q3 2014.
