EUR 330 million planned for supra-regional railway infrastructure in Eastern Poland

The Operational Program Eastern Poland 2014-2020 has been submitted to the European Commission. The OP represents an additional support instrument for Lubelskie, Podlaskie, Podkarpackie, Świętokrzyskie and Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeships.

The main objective of the program is to increase competitiveness and innovativeness of the Eastern Poland macroregion. Two of the five priority axis are Modern transport infrastructure and Supra-regional railway infrastructure.

The “Modern transport infrastructure” scope of support is: construction/reconstruction of railway, trolleybus and bus networks, along with the purchase of low-carbon rolling stock, construction/reconstruction of the necessary infrastructure for urban transport, including the construction of intermodal interchange stations, implementation of new telematics systems for urban. The value of the support is EUR 916 million EUR.

PKP PLK S.A. is the main beneficiary of the “Supra-regional railway infrastructure” component of the program. An amount of EUR 33o million has been allocated for investments in linear and spot infrastructure and assembly of elements of traffic management systems.
