EUR 75 million EIB loan for the acquisition of 20 new trams for Riga

EUR 75 million EIB loan for the acquisition of 20 new trams for RigaThe European Investment Bank (EIB) has apporoved a EUR 75 million loan to RP SIA RIGAS SATIKSME for the purchase of 20 new low-floor tramways to operate in the city of Riga (Latvia), and modernisation of tramway infrastructure and depot. 

The new trams will replace existing ones, which are obsolete.

The total value of the project is EUR 195 million. It includes as well as the purchase of 10 hydrogen fuel cell (HFC) buses, 10 Hytrolleys with HFC range extenders and the construction of hydrogen fuel production and storage facility.
