Eurovia subsidiaries sign EUR 27.5 million rail infrastructure project in Lithuania

Eurovia subsidiaries sign EUR 27.5 million rail infrastructure project in LithuaniaLithuanian Railways has signed a contract with Eurovia CS, Eurovia Lietuva (Eurovia subsidiaries) and UAB Vitras-S for the construction of the second track of IXB Corridor Vilnius Bypass Pušynas – Paneriai. The total value of the project is EUR 27.5 million. 

For the reconstruction of Vaidotai-Paneriai railway line connection with Vilnius-Kaunas line configuration funding will be provided by EU under the Cohesion Fund and by Lithuanian Railways. The construction of the double track will ensure faster rail freight transport towards Kaunas and Klaipeda directions. Reconstruction works will include the reinforcement of the track substructure, construction of water sewage, and installation of signaling equipment.

According to Stasys Dailydka, General  Director of Lithuanian Railways, the electrified Vilnius bypass will attract clean energy freight trains on IXB Corridor.
