Latvian Railways (LDz) and China Railway Corporation have signed a protocol of intention concerning cooperation for the development of China Railway Express from China to Europe. China-Latvia pilot container train is scheduled for run by end of this year and will be will be organised by LDz Cargo Loģistika, a subsidiary of Latvian Railways, and China Railway Container Transport Corporation.
“We must continue a more active cooperation with Chinese colleagues and other partners to ensure regular train traffic for both Latvia’s economic interests and the entire Baltic region, strengthening the position of Latvian Railways as a Baltic transport market leader ,” said Bērziņš.
The two parties agreed on cooperate on developing rail freight transport between China and Europe, joint marketing activities, on setting the rail freight tariff and the attraction of the cargo in both directions.
The document signed by Edvīns Bērziņš, General Director of Latvian Railways, and Sheng Guangzu, General Manager of China Railway Corporation, during Latvian Transport Minister Uldis Augulis’ visit to China. Latvian Railways (LDz) also discussed cooperation opportunities with China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation, China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing and China Merchants Group.
