The first Ukrainian – Czech electric locomotive could be launched in 2016

The first locomotive produced by the Zaporizhzhya electric locomotive plant (ZERZ) and Skoda Transportation joint venture could be launched in 2016, stated Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Maxim Bourbaki. 

According to him, next week the representatives of Skoda will arrive at the Zaporozhye electric locomotive plant for the final stage of the negotiations on establishing a joint venture. He also stressed that the Ukrainian – Czech JV will create 400 new jobs and the entire production will be localised.

The the new joint venture will be known as Zaporozhye Electric Locomotive and will have a production capacity of up to 25 electric locomotives per year.
