The first Foxtrot tramway, part of a 120 units fleet, entered trial passenger operation on the 1st of June in Moscow. Mosgortrans ordered the LRVs from Pesa in co-operation with Uraltransmash, part of Uralvagonzavod corporation.
“We are embarking on the final stage of the new trams testings. All tests have shown that the tram is safe and is ready to work in a real urban environment with passengers onboard” said Mosgortrans CEO, Yevgeny Mikhailov, while taking part at the tram testing event on Line 6, one of Moscow’s busiest tram routes – 45,000 passengers per day.
The 26-meters long three-section tramway reaches speeds of 75 km/h and can accommodate more than 200 people (60 seats).
By the end of this year, 70 Foxtrot tramways will be put into operation and the remaining 50 units in 2015.
