IMF: privatisation of CP Carga expected to take place by June 2014

The privatization of the rail cargo firm, CP Carga – Logística e Transportes Ferroviários de Mercadorias SA, has been postponed pending the unbundling of its terminals, expected to take place by June 2014 (Portugal: Tenth Review Under the Extended Arrangement and Request for Waivers of Applicability of end-December Performance Criteria, IMF). CP Carga manages three rail logistics terminals (Bobadela, Leixões and Loulé) and operates a further nine (Darque, Tandim, Mangualde, Guarda, Fundão, Leiria, Poceirão, Vale da Rosa and Praias do Sado).

CP Carga – Logística e Transportes Ferroviários de Mercadorias SA is the second largest rail-based logistics operator in the Iberian Peninsula. The company was founded on 2 August 2009 and all its shares are owned by CP Comboios de Portugal. CP Carga has 3000 wagons, many of its own logistics bases and 60 electric and diesel locomotives including 25 new Siemens series 4700 electric locomotives.
