Istanbul awards EUR 77.5 mln metro cars order to Hyundai Rotem

Hyundai Rotem announced it has received a KRW 103.8bn (EUR 77.5  million) order from Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality for the supply of 68 metro cars. The rolling stock will enter service on M2 Yenikapi – Haciosman Metro Line. 

The metro cars will be produced in Hyundai Rotem’s factory in Adana (Turkey) and will be delivered  in the second half of 2017.

Only two companies participated in the tender: Hyundai Rotem and CNR Changchun Railway Vehicles (CNR CRC. Hyundai Rotem’s  financial proposal, 12% higher compared to CNR CRC’s price offer, was made with the support of Korea Trade Insurance Corporation.
