Kazakhstan Railways has tested a new mobile-diagnostics laboratory (MPK) for rail infrastructureon the 227 km long railway line between Astana and Borovoye. The special vehicle is manufactured in-house and is equipped with rail flaws and defects detection and video monitoring systems.
The vehicle is designed to monitor and diagnose the condition of the railway track and will help Kazakhstan Railways to improve the quality of the railway track condition monitoring and to ensure the diagnostics accuracy.
The new track diagnostics technology was developed in the framework of Magistral Automated Control System R&D project. This project objective is to ensure continuous infrastructure maintenance and repairs, reducing costs as well as improving the transparency and operating efficiency of tracks. A more general aim is to ensure a high traffic safety level.
The MPK vehicle will generate an estimated 10 billion tenge in annual cost savings for Kazakhstan Railways.
