Ukraine: Kharkiv Metro has signed a UAH 198.96 million (EUR 7.2 million) agreement with Kryukovsky Railway Car Building Works (KVSZ) for the supply of five metro cars. KVSZ is expected to deliver the metro cars, of which two front metrocars series 81-7036 and three intermediate metro cars series 81-7037) before the end of this year.
According to, ProZorro, the public e-procurement system, the tender was carried out through direct negotiating procurement procedure due to the lack of competition on the market (including technical reasons).
Kharkiv Metro plans to renew and modernise its rolling stock fleet until 2019. In May, Kharkiv Metro has signed a UAH 727 million contract (EUR 25.6 million) with Vago-Rev for the modernisation and repair of its rolling stock fleet.
The fleet of Kharkiv Metro totals 328 metro cars, most of them over 35 years old.
