Kiev City Council has approved in November the updated action plan for 2016-2018 infrastructure development projects. According to the document, the city plans the acquisition of 215 trolleybuses, 235 buses and 63 trams by 2019 to implement the urban transport upgrade scenarios designed by experts from the World Bank, informs Interfax. The estimated investment is UAH 6.5 billion. For next year the city has approved the acquisition of two trams for UAH 188 million.
UAH 7.56 bn will be directed towards the acquisition of rolling stock for the tram-train line linking Troyeschyna-Berezniaky-Karavayevy Dachi residential districts. By 2019, the city intends to invest UAH 2.106 billion for the development of the tram-train line project.
UAH 10.5 bn will be allocated for the construction of Kiev Metro Podilsko-Vyhurivska line. The total value of the construction project is estimated to will reach UAH 31.6 billion by 2025. The city will continue the extension of Syretsko-Pecherskato line to the Vynohradar district in north western Kiev. The volume of investment is UAH 8.2 in 2016-2018 and reaches UAH 24.5 bn by 2025.
Kiev will also plans to purchase 709 metro cars for an estimated UAH 15 bn; of this amount UAH 5 bn will be allocated for metro cars acquisition until 2018.
