KVSZ has tested its prototype DPKr2 diesel multiple-unit on Lviv Railways (LR), Ukraine’s railway network with the most difficult mountainous terrain (Carpathian Mountains).  The main objective of the trial was to see how the DMU behaves while surmounting Beskydy pass and the steep grades on Ivano-Frankivsk – Ternopil route.

Ukrainian Railways plan to order 15 units for use in this region.

The two-car or three-car DPKr DMU can reach speeds of 140 km/h and has a 153 seats in the first option and 269 in the second.
