Lyudinovsky Locomotive Plant tests TE8 freight locomotive

Lyudinovsky Locomotive Plant, subsidiary of Sinara Transport Machines,  started certification tests of TE8 single-section freight locomotive.

The new eight-axle SuperSkid” TE8 locomotive was developed by the STM Centre for Innovation Development (part of Sinara Transport Machines) on the platform of TEM7  electric-transmission switcher locomotive and equipped with the 2,206-KW  (3000 hp) power installation produced by GE Transportation Parts LLC (USA). The locomotive is  especially designed  for being operated in mountain areas and extreme weather conditions. 

According to technical director YK STM Valeria Tolstova, TE8 performed well during trials on the Mecheltrans East railway network, confirming its technical specifications.
