MÁV-Start launches tender for high capacity trains

MÁV-Start has announced the tender for the acquisition of 40 high capacity EMUs with minimum 600 seats. The procurement is a part of the government decision on Integrated Programme for Transport 2016 (IKOP) funding allocation. 

The deadline for submitting offers is the 13th of January 2017.

The new 160 km/h trains will mainly service suburban rail routes (120 km long) , however they should provide the comfort of long distance travel (Budapest – Hatvan – Gyöngyös, Budapest – Újszász – Szolnok, Budapest – Cegléd – Szolnok, Budapest – Cegléd – Kecskemét, Budapest – Vác – Szob Budapest – Érd alsó/Érd felső – Martonvásár – Székesfehérvár). The units should be equipped with passenger information systems, air-conditioning, ETCS Level 2 train control system.
