MAV-Start to purchase bogies and brake systems for 20 IC+ coaches

Hungarian state-owned railway operator MAV-Start has announced a HUF 2.3 bn tender for the acquisition of 40 bogies, 20 brake systems and flexball cables to equip 20 IC + coaches. The production of the 200km/h passenger coaches intended for international operation (EuroCity) is planned to start in early 2017.  The deadline for submitting offers is the 5th of May.

MAV-Start is also preparing for the production of 100 IC+ coaches for domestic transport (InterCity), with an operating speed of 160km/h.

IC + coaches were designed by MAV-Start and were manufactured at the Szolnok Rail Vehicle Repair Workshop. The coaches are air conditioned and are equipped with a GPS-driven audiovisual passenger information system, electric sockets, WiFi and an internal video surveillance system.

Last year, two IC+ prototypes carriage received type approval for entering domestic and international operations (Budapest-Viena-Zurich, Budapest-Hamburg).
