Metropolitan AD signed contract with Bulgarian – Czech consortium for expanding in Sofia’s metro network

The state-owned operator of the Sofia subway system, Metropolitan AD, has signed an agreement with Bulgarian-Czech tie-up Metro Cherni Vrah 2013 to build a new 1.3 kilometer mainline, Metropolitan said on Tuesday.

Construction works on the subway line connecting the James Bourchier boulevard with the Hladilnika residential district can begin after a building permit is issued which is expected to happen by the end of March, a Metropolitan spokesperson told SeeNews over the phone. The construction works are expected to take 22 months. The consortium consists of Bulgarian builders Stanilov and GP Group and Czech partner Metroprojekt Praha.
