Modernisation works to start on Skarżysko Kamienna – Kielce railway section

Skanska PolandPKP PLK SA and Skanska signed a contract worth 27.6 million zl ( approximately EUR 6.7 million) for the modernization works on Skarżysko Kamienna – Kielce railway section. Works are carried in the framework of the project Modernisation of Railway Line 8 Radom-Kielce.

The purpose of the project is to increase competitiveness of railways by reducing journey time and improving traffic safety and quality of the railway corridors for transit and domestic traffic. It includes rebuilding of the subgrade and track surface (9.5 km), contact line and power supply system (14 km),  engineering structures and modernisation of a viaduct.

Eighteen months ago, Skanska has also modernized Radom – Kamienna railway section.The adjustment on the whole length to the speed of 120 km / h will significantly reduce journey time. Currently, the speed reached on some sections is limited to 30 km/ h.
