Alexander Misharin, First Vice-President of Russian Railways, announced during a conference organised by Gudok, that Moscow – Kazan high speed line project documentation was examined by the General Directorate of State Examination” (FAA “Glavgosexpertiza Russia”) and that next month the technical and economic audit of the project will be presented to the Open Government.
The total cost of the first segment of the network is estimated at 1.068 trillion rubles. Passenger traffic on the line is estimated at more than 7.5 million people a year.
In the experts opinion the project will significantly contribute to GDP and GRP increase. For the first 11 years of the HSL project – from 2019 to 2030 – the aggregated GDP growth is projected at 6.85 trillion rubles.
According to the “Engineering Surveys and Designing of The Moscow — Kazan Section of The Moscow — Kazan – Yekaterinburg High Speed Rail Line” Information Memorandum, construction of the Moscow – Kazan HSRL will help solve important social and economic tasks:
• increase people mobility and business activity by reducing travel time between cities within the rail line attraction zone;
• improve transportation links between the regions and enable economic growth of territories;
• create new jobs: 80,000 jobs during the construction phase (of which 45,000 – in the related fields) and 30,000 jobs during the operation phase (of which 15,000 – in the related fields), including 5,600 jobs in transportation;
• create a flow of orders for Russian business: total price of construction procurement orders will be more than 270 billion roubles.
