New Croatian DMU enters service

The first of the 12 Konkar DMU multiple-units for Croatian Railways (HŽ Putnički prijevoz) has entered service on Zagreb (main station)- Zabok – Varaždin regional railway line.  Transport Minister Oleg Butkovic, Croatian Railways CEO of Passenger Transport Drazen Ratkovic, and Koncar – Electric Vehicles CEO Darinko Bago were among the guests on board the train. 

The three-car unit Series 7023 can reach a maximum speed of 120km/h, has 167 seats and space for 175 standing passengers. It is equipped with heating and cooling systems, CCTVs, WiFi, passenger information system.

HŽ Putnički prijevoz and rolling stock manufacturer Koncar have signed a 1.63 billion kuna (EUR 213 million) contract for the acquisition of 44 diesel and electric multiple-units, of which 32 EMUs (16 for urban and suburban services and 16 for regional transport) and 12 DMUs. Konkar has so far delivered 10 EMUs for regional services, eight EMUs for urban and suburan transport. Another two urban-suburban trains will be delivered by early March this year.
