New Łódź Fabryczna railway station welcomes first train

The special Investment Express train is the first train travelling through the tunnel which leads to the new Łódź Fabryczna railway station. This first special journey was organised by PKP Polish Railway Lines SA (PKP PLK) for the project investors and journalists. Technical tests are planned for the end of this year, while the station opening is scheduled for the fall of 2016 . Currently, the contractor is  installing traffic control devices, ventilation, drainage and security systems.

The railway station will be the main component of a multi-modal transport junction which will connect agglomeration and conventional railway, long-distance buses, city public transport and private car transport in the city center.

The station is situated 16,5 m underground accommodates four platforms.  In the entire investment (tunnel and station) 12,5 km of tracks are installed.

The total value of the project is PLN 1.75 billion. PKP Polish Railway Lines SA has signed an agreement to co-finance investments from EU funds.

Works are carried out by Torpol-Astaldi-PBDiM-Intercor Consortium.
