New rolling stock tender launched by St. Petersburg Metro

St. Petersburg Metro has launched a new tender for the purchase of 20 metro cars with asynchronous traction drive. The value of the contract is RUB 10.5 billion. The deadline for submitting bids is the 12th of May 2015.

The 8-car trains sets will to enter operation on Kirov-Vyborg subway line. Deliveries are expected between with 2016 – 2020.

The companies that previously supplied similar rolling stock to St. Petersburg Metro are Vagonmash (51% owned by Skoda Transportation, 49% Leontodon Reed Ltd.) and Oktyabrsky Electric Plant (OEVRZ) (part of Transmashholding).
