St. Petersburg Metro has awarded a RUB 13.4 bn (EUR 180 million) contract to Oktyrbrsky Electric Plant (OEVRZ), a subsidiary of Transmashholding (TMH), for the supply of 27 six-car metro trains.
The composition of the metro trains includes two motorised cars and a trailer. The trains will be equipped with with asynchronous traction drive, reducing energy consumption by 30% compared to currently operated metros.
Deliveries will be carried out in 2017-2018 (15 units in 2017 and 12 units in 2018). The first train is expected to be commissioned St. Petersburg Metro on the 30th of June 2017. The new metro trains will enter service on St. Petersburg Metro Line 3 (Nevsko-Vasileostrovskaya line).
As part of two previews contracts with St Petersburg Metro, OEVRZ will complete this month the delivery of 66 metro trains and in 2020 the delivery of 20 eight-car metro trains.
