PKP Polish Railway Lines to invest PLN 5 bn in 2017 for developing main routes

PKP Polish Railway Lines to invest PLN 5 bn in 2017PKP Polish Railway Lines (PKP PLK) plans to invest PLN 5 bn (EUR 1.27 bn) in 2017 and PLN 10 bn (EUR 2.5 bn) in 2018 for improving of rail transport in urban areas, for better connections on regional routes and for improving conditions for the transport of freight. 

PKP PLK has already signed contracts for works on the Warsaw ring railway (section Warszawa Golabki/Warszawa Zachodnia–Warszawa Gdanska), Ostrołęka – Łapy; Siedlce – Czeremcha, Czeremcha Białystok and Chybie – Żory – Rybnik – Nędza rail lines. The company planes further projects for Kraków Główny Towarowy – Rudzice rail line (No 30), Warszawa Włochy – Grodzisk Mazowiecki rail lines (No 447), Ostrołęka – Łapy, Lublin – Stalowa Wola Rozwadów, (No 68, 565), Otwock-Lublin (No 7 ), Rail Baltica (Sadowne – Czyżew, No E75), Zduńska Wola Karsznice – Bydgoszcz – Tczew (Nowa Wieś Wielka – Tczew N0 131).

In 2016, PKP PLK modernized 510 km of lines, and the total value of investments amounted to PLN 4.1 billion.
