Poland: Bombardier and KZA Krakow win level crossings contract worth EUR 25 million

Bombardier Transportation as leader in a consortium with KZA Krakow has won new contracts to deliver Bombardier’s advanced EBI Gate level crossing technology across seven provinces in Poland. This is part of a network-wide upgrade planned by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A covering 16 provinces in Poland.

The contracts awarded by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A to the Bombardier-KZA Krakow consortium have a combined total value of approximately 105 million PLN (25 million euro), with Bombardier’s share valued at approximately 52 million PLN (12 million euro, $17 million US).

Bombardier’s contracts encompass lines in the provinces: Lower Silesia, Malopolskie, Opole, Lubuskie, Silesia, Subcarpathian and Swietokrzyskie. The scope is to deliver, install, test and commission the well-proven EBI Gate 1000 and EBI Gate 2000 level crossing systems, as well as deliver training.

Slawomir Nalewajka, President, Rail Control Solutions Poland, Bombardier Transportation, said: “This is a further important contract for Bombardier’s rail signalling business in Poland and reflects the strong reputation of our technology. Our level crossing systems, manufactured at our Katowice site, have been contributing to rail safety in Poland for many years.”
