The representatives of Koleje Dolnośląskie and NEWAG S.A. signed a contract for the delivery of six modern Electric Multiple Units. The contract value exceeds PLN 80 million and is partially co-financed with the monies from the European Regional Development Fund.
The project of the purchase of six modern EMUs is co-financed by the European Union from the funds of the European Regional Development Fund within the Regional Operational Programme for the Dolnośląskie Province for the years 2007–2013. The overall gross project value is PLN 81 486 270 whereas the gross European Union contribution amounts to PLN 56 306 975.
The modern Impuls trains which will operate as part of Koleje Dolnośląskie fleet, are three-car electric multiple units with high standard of interior furnishings and finish. The ordered trains will have 165 seats in a open coach configuration. Each car will be air-conditioned, it will have wi-fi, individual electric sockets, passenger information system inside and outside the train as well as an intercom. Passengers will be offered a lot of amenities.
Great emphasis was placed on enhancing the comfort of travelling for the disabled. Apart from specially adapted places for passengers on wheelchairs, the trains will feature equipment facilitating boarding, retractable steps covering the gap between the train and the platform and specially-adapted toilets. There will also be a baby changing station for passengers travelling with small children.

Another six trains are going to be added to the five four-car Impuls trains which are already owned by Koleje Dolnoślaskie , ensuring passengers’ comfortable journey within the Dolny Śląsk area,” said Zbigniew Konieczek, President of NEWAG S.A.
The trains will be able to travel at a speed up to 160 km/h. They will start servicing the railway routes in Dolny Sląsk in December this year between Wrocław — Wałbrzych, Wrocław – Jelenia Góra and Szklarska Poręba Górna — Wrocław, Wałbrzych, Jelenia Góra. In total , they will service 26 connections per day .
