Kazakhstan Railways and Iranian Social Security Investment Company (SHASTA) intend to jointly build a terminal in the Bandar Abbas seaport and infrastructural facilities on the principle of dry port near Incheburun station on the Turkmen and Iranian border. The terminal purpose is to consolidate the logistics supply chain and to set points for transit traffic and cargo export in the ports of the Persian Gulf. The project is part of the Kazakhstan’s “100 steps” program for the integration of Kazakhstan into the international transport and communication flows, and for the establishment of the multi-modal transport route “Eurasian transcontinental corridor”.
Within the framework of Kazakhstan Railways’ working visit to Iran on February 21-22, a discussion with the Director General of Raja Rail Transportation Company with the participation of Carlos Palacio Oriol, President of Patentes Talgo S.A. was held for the supply of 200 passenger cars produced by Tulpar-Talgo LLP for implementation of the program on development of the passenger transportation in Iran.
During the meeting with Dr Mohsen Pour Seyed Aghaie, General Director of Iranian Railways, the two parties planed to increase the volume of freight transported between Kazakhstan and Iran up to 2.5 mln tons in 2016.
