RENFE to purchase 40 new trains over the next four years

The Minister for Public Works, Ana Pastor announced at InnoTrans that over the next four years RENFE is going to purchase 30 high-speed trains plus 10 variable gauge trains. This represents a great effort on the part of RENFE in order for the public to be able to travel better, with increased safety and in less time, she highlighted.

Ana Pastor recalled that Spain is the second leading country in terms of kilometres of high-speed railway lines and that the country is working towards having a 21st century high-performance train network, reaching many more locations by 2018.

The minister informed that in the first eight months of 2014, Spanish civil-engineering companies have been awarded overseas contracts worth almost EUR 26 billion, of which part corresponds to railway infrastructures.
