Romania: Cluj-Napoca public transport operator plans to purchase new tramways

Public Transport Company S.A Cluj-Napoca (CTP) plans to purchase up to seven new tramways. CTP intends to contract a EUR 20 million EBRD loan in order to purchase 5-7 tramways and 50 buses. Cluj-Napoca City Council voted on Friday in favor of becoming the loan guarantor.

CTP and EBRD have already signed a pre-financing agreement, according to Emil Boc, Mayor of Cluj-Napoca.

In March 2012, Cluj-Napoca Municipality signed a EUR 17 million contract with Polish company PESA Pojajzdy Szynowe Bydgoszcz SA for the supply of 12 low-floor trams. CTP rolling stock fleet also includes 36 Tatra KT4D tramway.
