Romania: New railway station and rail freight terminal worth EUR 41 million in Cluj Napoca

The project for the development of an intermodal transport infrastructure for passenger and cargo at Cluj Avram Iancu International Airport is currently estimated at EUR 71 million. Of the total amount, EUR 15 million represent the necessary investment for the new railway station, EUR 26 million for the railway freight terminal, EUR 12 million for the 270 m walkway connecting the airport with Someseni railway station.

In order to obtain financing for the project under current CEF Transport, an association between Cluj County Council, Apahida City Hall, Cluj-Napoca City Hall and CFR Calatori is expected to be established in the near future. 

The project Studies for developing the intermodal passenger and freight transport infrastructure at the Cluj-Napoca International Airport will end on the 30 November 2014. The total project value was EUR 2 million, 50% being financed by the European Union.
