CFR SA awarded the tender for Danube railway bridges modernisation works, at km 152+149 and at km 165+817, on București – Constanța railway section, to a consortium of Romanian companies, formed of Arcada Company SA, Metabet C.F. SA and Compania Construcții Feroviare SA. The price offer submitted was RON 122 million (approximately EUR 27.4 million). The other two bidders were: Strabag – Tancrad, Consinit and Azvi – Straco Grup consortia.
This project modernises the bridges’ infrastructure, which allows passenger trains to travel over them at a maximum speed of 160 km/h and freight trains at a maximum speed of 120 km/h. The two bridges are the last bottlenecks to be dealt with on this route.
The project is funded under the priority “Modernisation and development of TEN-T priority axis aiming at sustainable national transport system integrated with EU transport networks” of the Operational Programme for Transport.
