Russian Railways and Bulgarian State Railways have signed a memorandum of cooperation

Russian Railways and Bulgarian State Railways signed today a memorandum of cooperation, under the 60th session of The Council for Rail Transport of CIS States, taking place in Astana (Kazakhstan). The memorandum was signed by the President of Russian Railways, Vladimir Yakunin and Hristiyan Krastev, CEO of  BDZ EAD Holding.

“This is an explicit intention of Russian Railways and our colleagues to enhance cooperation in the field of railway transport,” said Vladimir Yakunin.

“The signing of this memorandum establishes the basis for the development of tighter relations between Russian and Bulgarian railways, aiming to increase freight transport  between Bulgaria and Russia”, said Hristiyan Krastev.

The Memorandum provides for the implementation of joint projects to improve the competitiveness of rail transport, increasing passenger and freight traffic using the Russian and Bulgarian transport systems.

Special attention will be paid to the operation of  rail-ferry services between the ports of Varna and Caucasus.
