Russian Railways (RZD) will invest RUB 8,4 billion (€120 million) for the modernisation of 31 railway stations in the cities that will host the 2018 World Cup.
Investments will be directed towards increasing security. Additional screening equipment and the latest digital video surveillance cameras will be installed in the stations.
In order to improve passenger information system, electronic displays and signs in Russian and English languages will be installed, including dynamic navigation. As well, information systems for passengers with limited mobility will be installed.
All 31 stations will be connected to the main hub of the Security Department of the Railway Stations Directorate (Moscow), a subsidiary of Russian Railways, allowing monitoring in real time.
Of the total amount, RUB 3 billion will be directed towards the modernisations of five railway stations part of St. Petersburg transport hub.
