Brazil’s Secretariat of Ports has announced that a meeting with a delegation of Russian Railways (RZD) took place on the 11th of April. RZD learned out about the ports portfolio of investments and examined the auctions of the six Port areas in Para planned for the 6th of June.
RZD expressed interested in investing in the construction of Açailândia-Barcarena stretch of the North-South Railway. The company wants to participate in the rail and port operations, according to Helder Barbalho, the Brazilian Special Minister for Ports (SEP). The railway will connect the North-South Railway, from Açailândia/MA, to the Port Complex of Vila do Conde, in the municipality of Barcarena/PA, and will provide a new high-capacity corridor, on broad gauge, comprehending especially grains, iron ore and bauxite cargo.
“We are consolidating our intention to work in Brazil. The meeting was very useful, ” said First Vice-President of Russian Railways, Alexander Misharin. He explained that the concession system also began to be used in Russia, mainly in the construction of high-speed railways, and that RZD is already working together with the state bank of economic development.
Present in more than 40 countries, the company is interested in participating in infrastructure, logistics and transport projects in Brazil, added Misharin.
