RZD International to modernise section of Belgrade-Bar railway line

RZD International and Infrastructure Railways of Serbia have signed Annex 4.1 of the Russian loan agreement for the modernization of Serbian Railways. RZD International will carry out works for the reconstruction and modernization of the 77.6 km long  Resnik – Valjevo railway section, on Belgrade-Bar line. The value of the project is about USD 80 million.

Works are planned to start in March 2016 and last 14 months. After modernisation, train speed on this section will be significantly increased; currently the speed limit is limited to 30 -50 km/h, due to the fact that no modernisation works have been performed since the construction of the line 40 years ago.

Belgrade-Bar railway has great both national and international importance since it connects the Adriatic basin with pan-European Transport Corridor 10, as well as with Central and Eastern Europe, stated Goran Maksić, General director of Infrastructure Railways of Serbia.
