Serbian Railways Assembly has approved to sign with RZD International annexes 2.1 and 5 of Russian state loan contract for the modernisation of Serbian Railways. The value of the contracts is close to USD 150 million, which represents the largest investment in the development of Serbian Railways since World War II.
Annex 2.1. includes the rehabilitation of three railway sections (Maka Krsna – Velika Plana, Sopot Kosmajski – Kovačevac and Ruma – Golubincion) located on the northern branch of Corridor 10 and with a total length of 65.7 kilometers. The total value of rehabilitation works is estimated at USD 48.7 million.
Annex 5 refers to the the purchase of 27 new diesel trains produced by Russian company Metrovagonmash, contract worth USD 100 million. The first unit will be delivered to Serbian railways eight months after signing the contract.
