Siemens continues investing in Russia

Siemens will invest EUR 60 million in expanding Metallostroy maintenance depot for high-speed Sapsan train (Velaro RUS), near Saint Petersburg, informed Dietrich Moeller, President & CEO of Siemens Russia & Central Asia during a press conference. In the new facility, maintenance works for Desiro RUS (Lastochka) regional trains will also be carried out.

The company is also interested in participating in the tender for the purchase of 768 metro cars & service, under a 30-year, contract launched by Moscow Metro. According to Moeller, the condition to reach a 80% level of product localisation is the most difficult. The deadline for submitting bids is 17th of November and the results of the tender will be announced ten days later.

Siemens is also interested in supping trains and electrical equipment for Moscow – Kazan high-speed rail line.
